Acrylic & thread on paper, stitched and mounted to a vintage slide
Artwork size: 2×2 inches
2026
When I was a kid, my dad was a photographer. So coming across a box of vintage slide mounts made the nostalgia a sensory explosion. I have many memories of sitting around the projector as it hummed and whir-clicked while my folks shared stories of travel and wilderness hiking. These affordable, miniature artworks were inspired by that nostalgia. Can our views into the past be mended? Like so many snapshots, these are windows to places hanging on by a thread.
These pieces utilize the cast-offs of larger works, which all began as several paintings of abstract color play in watercolor, acrylic and rust on paper which were cut apart to find new territories. I stitch my found landscapes together as an act of mending, trying to make sense of the shifting environmental impacts of climate change.
